James E. Holshouser, Jr. Distinguished Professor in Ethics

The Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University invites applications for the James E. Holshouser Jr. Distinguished Professorship in Ethics, a tenure-track faculty position. The desired start date is August 2007. Qualifications for this position include:

  • Earned doctorate or other appropriate terminal degree at the time of application
  • Substantial experience in the field of business ethics with an appropriate record of scholarly publications
  • Outstanding skills in scholarship, teaching and service
  • A record of success in obtaining outside support for programs is desirable.
  • Candidates are expected to provide instruction in the business discipline of their expertise along with the broad area of business ethics, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Holshouser Professorship includes an anticipated teaching load of two courses per semester. In addition, the successful candidate will develop programs and seminars in business ethics for the college and community, and consult with faculty and departments in the College of Business and the university on curricular innovations designed to enhance discipline-specific foundations for ethical decision making. Other responsibilities include maintaining an ongoing research agenda, and participation in college, university and external service activities.

    The Walker College of Business contains six academic departments, serves over 2,200 undergraduate majors, and also offers an MBA and M.S. in Accounting. The College is accredited by AACSB and offers distinctive programs such as a CEO lecture series and numerous international study programs.     Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina System.
