Two Position Announcements:
(1) Assistant Professor of Business Law and Social Responsibility
and
(2) Assistant Professor of Ethics and Social Responsibility

The School of Business Administration (SBA) at the University of San Diego (USD) seeks two teacher-scholars to join its management, leadership and ethics team. Expertise must be in the fields of business law, social responsibility, corporate social responsibility and ethics.

USD is an independent, Catholic institution committed to a value-centered, liberal arts education for undergraduates. Located on 180 acres overlooking San Diego’s Mission Bay, USD enrolls approximately 6,600 undergraduate and graduate students in five schools (Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, Nursing and Law). The University of San Diego seeks gender, cultural and ethnic diversity in its faculty, administration, staff and student populations.

Qualities and Qualifications: Viable candidates will have completed a JD, or a PhD or DBA (or be in the final dissertation stages with completion anticipated by September 2008.) Fields of specialization must clearly involve social responsibility and ethics or business law, social responsibility and ethics. Research should reflect this emphasis.

Candidates who fit the USD culture are expected to value both teaching and research combined with collegial behavior to engage with faculty in the management area and across the SBA in school governance.

Responsibilities and Accountability: Faculty within USD’s School of Business Administration are normally expected to teach six courses per year (semester basis), although research releases or reassigned time can reduce the teaching load. In addition to offering the BBA program, the school also offers specialized baccalaureate majors, plus a full-time and a part-time MBA, a full-time International MBA, and five specialized MS degree programs (executive leadership, global leadership, accounting and financial management, supply chain management, and real estate). Many degree programs are offered on a year round basis, which affords the opportunity for overload compensation for many faculty.

Consistent productivity in the publication of academic journals and/or scholarly books is required. As an AACSB accredited school, each faculty members is expected to maintain an academically qualified status.
