(Bogotá) – In an effort to improve implementation of Global Compact principles and Communications on Progress throughout the region, the Regional Center for the Support of the Global Compact in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) has taken its training program “on the road”. The training series will focus on the UN Global Compact Management Model, which aims to support companies’ efforts to embrace corporate sustainability by integrating the Global Compact commitment into their mainstream business practices.
Beginning with Colombia and Peru in September, the road show will continue through October with training sessions in Panama, Chile, Paraguay, Brazil and Uruguay. Throughout the coming year, trainings will be held in each of the region’s 13 Local Networks.
The training program is being led by Professor Jorge Reyes of Anahuac University on behalf of the Regional Center LAC, and supported by Diana Chávez, Director of the Regional Center. As participants of Global Compact LEAD and the Regional Center, private sector representatives from Endesa and Telefónica are also sharing their companies’ practical approaches and experiences implementing Global Compact principles through the Management Model.
Launched in 2009, the Regional Center LAC strives to further the Global Compact’s agenda by directly supporting Local Networks, with the goal to advance the initiative and corporate sustainability across Latin America and the Caribbean.
